CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA, May 03, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Elizabeth A. Sargent, FASLA, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

As a distinguished figure in the field of historical landscape architecture, Ms. Sargent has been recognized for her expertise and contributions to preserving and designing cultural landscapes across the United States. As the principal and sole proprietor of Liz Sargent Historical Landscape Architecture since 2007, she offers consulting services in historic preservation and design. Ms. Sargent's work encompasses planning and design studies for nationally significant properties including Mount Vernon, the Washington Monument, Yellowstone National Park, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and Yorktown Battlefield.

Prior to founding her own firm, Ms. Sargent served as principal landscape architect at John Milner Associates. Before that, she held roles as principal at OCULUS and as a senior associate at Land and Community Associates. Ms. Sargent's career is marked by a skill for developing complex reports and managing projects that weave together the contributions of diverse teams into cohesive outcomes. One notable project under her leadership was the development of a comprehensive study of Trail Ridge Road, a 48-mile route in Colorado's Rocky Mountain National Park, that ascends to more than 12,000 feet in elevation.

Ms. Sargent has maintained active participation in a number of organizations outside of her primary vocation that illustrate her commitment to the field, including serving as a Historic American Landscapes Survey representative for the Virginia Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects, and as a board member of the Ivy Creek Foundation. She has previously been involved with such esteemed groups as the Highlands Biological Foundation, the City of Charlottesville's Historic Resources Committee, and the Rockfish Valley Foundation. Ms. Sargent's professional achievements were further underscored by her recognition as a fellow by the American Society of Landscape Architects in 2016, an honor that highlights her standing in her field and her contributions to landscape architecture.

Ms. Sargent's success can be traced back to her strong educational background. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in botany and American history from Connecticut College in 1984, followed by a master's degree in landscape architecture from the University of Virginia School of Architecture in 1991. These academic achievements laid the groundwork for Ms. Sargent's career, providing her with a deep understanding of both the scientific and historical aspects of landscape architecture. Beyond her education, she attributes her success to perseverance, diligence, and a collaborative approach.

Outside of her professional life, Ms. Sargent is a loving mother and enjoys skiing and traveling, activities that reflect her appreciation for natural landscapes and cultural experiences. Looking to the future, she aims to undertake projects that will encapsulate her interests and leave a lasting impact on the field of landscape architecture. Additionally, Ms. Sargent is working on a book with the University of Virginia that will document her experiences and work. That book will be the latest addition to a legacy devoted to developing, maintaining, and celebrating sites of historical importance.
