Mr. Capestany is a distinguished Licensed Professional Counselor with a specialization in Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Mood Disorders and Gerontology. Currently serving as the owner of Synergy Counseling LLC in Beaverton, Oregon, since 2021, he has dedicated himself to providing comprehensive mental health services tailored to individual, family and group needs. Mr. Capestany's expertise and commitment to his clients have established him as a leader in his field.
Prior to joining Synergy Counseling LLC, Mr. Capestany was a Mental Health Care Coordinator for Tiger-Tualatin School District through a non-profit called LifeWorks from 2016 to 2018, where he coordinated care for students and families requiring mental health services in addition to mental health trainings to schools and district staff. While still at LifeWorks, he started part time at Western Psychological and Counseling Services from 2017 where he transferred to full time from 2018 to 2021 honing his skills and deepening his understanding of mental health challenges as an intern under the supervision of Chris Camplair Ph.D.
Before embarking on his career in mental health and as of today, Mr. Capestany is deeply involved in music as a singer and songwriter. He went through a journey of purchasing his musical equipment to produce and record music independently. This experience led Mr. Capestany, along with a partner, to start a multi-media production company in Puerto Rico named Passion Station Productions LLC to express his passion through music and support up-and-coming artists, gamers and podcasters.
In preparation for his career in mental health care, Mr. Capestany received a Bachelor of Arts in Forensic Psychology with emphasis in Rehabilitation Services from the University of Puerto Rico in Ponce in 2011 completing his internship at Ponce Autism Center under the supervision of Ineabelle Montes Ph.D. Subsequently, he obtained a Certification as a Graduate Gerontologist from the University of Puerto Rico on the Medical Sciences campus in 2012, followed by a Certification as a Mediator of Conflicts in 2013. Additionally, Mr. Capestany earned a Master's Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Puerto Rico in Rio Piedras in 2014 where he investigated and defended a controversial thesis at the time, due to the illegality and negative stigma of Cannabis in Puerto Rico, titled "Case Study of the Experience of a Cancer Survivor who used Cannabis as Palliative Care to Counteract the Negative Side Effects of Chemotherapy" under the direction of Beatriz Rivera Ph.D. and guidance of Luis Raul Sanchez Peraza Ph.D. and Robinson Vazquez Ph.D. Mr. Capestany also has published in professional journals on topics related to Rehabilitation Counseling and Gerontology.
Mr. Capestany is committed to giving back to the community through pro bono work for Spanish speaking immigrants with no medical insurance and little resources. Mr. Capestany's involvement with civic-minded organizations and connections with schools reflects his dedication to making a positive impact beyond his counseling practice. Eager for the future of his career, Mr. Capestany is inspired to expand his mental health agency and support his community further. He is driven by a hope to be there for individuals feeling hopeless, aiming to make a difference in the lives of others.
