-- More people need to do their part in enforcing solar energy, opines AC Solar Solutions
. For the past several years, the experts at this company have strived to eliminate humanity's dependence on foreign energy. Instead, people should start embracing solar power. But the company cannot enforce this practice alone. Citizens need to step in and do their part to display the power of solar energy. Soon, the state of Nevada is going to feature one of the largest solar projects in the world.
AC Solar Solutions reflects on an article
by Climate Progress that discusses the Copper Mountain 3 Solar Plant. This feature is the third phase of one of the largest photovoltaic solar plants in the United States, known as the Copper Mountain Solar complex. Construction has recently begun on this 250-megawatt plant, and it is destined to become the largest polycrystalline solar project in existence.
Engineers have slated completion for Copper Mountain 3 by 2015. Their intention is to harness the energy from this plant to power approximately 80,000 homes. The entire plant is expected to span across 1,400 acres of desert within Boulder City. It will transfer and conduct energy through other nearby power plants and transmission lines.
People have shown curiosity as to why there are transmission lines out in the middle of the desert. Boulder City was one of the reservations sanctioned by the government to house workers during the Great Depression. These workers were commissioned to construct the Hoover Dam in an effort to boost the nation's energy and economy. Nowadays, Boulder City has become hardly more than a ghost town that is struggling to support the nation. Luckily, Copper Mountain 3 is predicted to create more than 300 construction jobs. Not only will this reduce the unemployment rate, it will also bring crucial revenue back to the city.
AC Solar Solutions and other experts have commended Nevada's leadership efforts in spearheading the state's solar projects. Other states are encouraged to follow Nevada's example of boosting business while promoting solar energy.
As mentioned previously, Copper Mountain 3 will feature polycrystalline solar panels. Unlike traditional panels, these are the most cost-effective solutions and create a higher return of investment in the long run. Experts indicate that this is the largest single installation project using these types of modules.
A representative from AC Solar Solutions stated, "The United States is an underdog in the solar energy sector. Other countries are really shining with their efforts, despite the fact that they get minimal sunlight or have a lack of resources. But I'm pretty optimistic for the US's attempts to come out on top, especially now that Copper Mountain 3's construction is underway. Nevada is leading us into prosperity, one step at a time."
The United States has seen exponential growth so far this year in solar energy. In the first quarter of 2013, there was more than 723 megawatts of solar PV capacity introduced in the country. This was a 33 percent increase over the previous year's numbers. AC Solar Solutions looks forward to seeing these numbers increase in the following years.
