/Worldwide Who's Who/ -- Alphonso C. Rincon, president of Fathers Active in Communities and Education (FACE), has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and innovation in family, community and education partnerships.
Mr. Rincon founded Fathers Active in Communities and Education in 2003 with a mission to build communities of fathers to transform education and civic life. He has developed districtwide and interdistrict father/student models that partner fathers (father figures) with students, teachers, schools, universities, and the workplace. He facilitates training and father/student activities and collaborates with partners. His schedule is divided between hands-on, grass-roots implementation of FACE programs in school districts and presenting and speaking throughout the United States about his work. He is preparing to launch a digital magazine on the subject.
Leadership comes naturally to Mr. Rincon. He grew up on a farm, and his father put him in leadership roles with farming tasks. His parents never learned English but emphasized the importance of a good education and serving the community. Mr. Rincon was frequently elected class president or to other leadership roles throughout his education. As an adult Mr. Rincon has been recognized for service in the arts, civic organizations and in schools.
However, when he got a divorce, Mr. Rincon experienced the challenges unique to fathers, whether divorced or not, to being engaged in their children's education. In 2003, Mr. Rincon founded FACE to ensure that too often "invisible" fathers are instead engaged partners in the development and education of children and youth.
In 2011 and 2012, respectively, the National Council for Community and Education Partnerships of Washington, D.C. recognized a father and a student nominated by FACE for their leadership.
Mr. Rincon received a Bachelor of Arts in German in 1975 from Texas State University, with Honors.
