PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FL, February 09, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Rising health-care costs and lowered standards of care have increasingly pushed Americans to seek other means of relief for their ailments. Even the American Medical Association (AMA), in its Resolution #514, encourages its members "to become better informed regarding alternative (complementary) medicine and to participate in appropriate studies of it."
So why do people still buy into the big-bucks medical industry in the US?
"We as a culture have accepted the paradigm that we will eventually die from some chronic degenerative illness such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes, or Alzheimer's," said Robert E. Moroney, MA, DA, author of the new book "Total Body Detoxification: The Way to Healthy Aging." "But this belief is false. There are things we can do to alter this fate, but we must be open to changing our definition of health care."
The US, it seems, is one of the world's longest holdouts when it comes to alternative forms of treatment. Only 10 to 30 percent of people in all countries use conventional medicine; the majority use natural methods such as herbal supplements, acupuncture, and other homeopathic remedies to cure what ails them--and prolong their lives. Despite the emphasis on high-tech modern medicine, the US ranks fiftieth in life expectancy.
In "Total Body Detoxification: The Way to Healthy Aging," Robert Moroney detailed his own battles with lung cancer and hepatitis brought on by a lifetime of severe stress and addictions to alcohol and drugs. The book shows step by step the research, modalities, and healing regimens he employed to help himself and others recover from physically and mentally debilitating conditions over sixteen years of private practice and in his own healing journey.
According to news source CNN, half of all medical schools--including Harvard, Johns Hopkins, and Georgetown--offer courses in alternative medicine. In addition:
* Almost three-quarters of Americans are interested in more-natural approaches to health care.
* According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 65 to 80 percent of the world's population--that's about three billion people--use alternative methods as their primary form of health care.
* The US government has already spent $22 million on alternative medical research.
* One-third of Americans have used alternative medicine techniques and 84 percent would do so again.
Robert Moroney, MA, DA, earned advanced degrees from Boulder Graduate School and Alphabiotics International in Dallas, Texas, and was in private practice for sixteen years as a nutritionist and peak-performance coach. Robert was born in Astoria, Queens, married his wife, Barbara, in 1973, and has one son.
