Arizona I-10 Crashes Highlight the Dangers of Commercial Trucking Accidents
The Arizona section of the I-10 is a dangerous road for commercial drivers, especially semis and long-haul drivers as they criss-cross the state making deliveries and sometimes putting other drivers' lives at risk.

October 28, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- A number of recent accidents along the I-10 involving commercial truckers are examples of the dangers that everyone on the road faces because of commercial trucking crashes. Recently, a tire blowout caused a truck to skid off the road in Tucson, killing the driver. Another crash killed one person and injured two others, when a tractor trailer lost control and rolled over along the Tucson stretch of I-10. And, yet another fatal truck crash, this one near Eloy, killed several people after the driver of a commercial truck lost control and hit two passenger vehicles.

Closing of Interstate 10 in or around Tucson because of a car or truck crash is not uncommon. The stretch of I-10 in Arizona was ranked 18th on the 100 deadliest highways in the United States based on information from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Tucson truck accident attorneys have seen first-hand the damage and devastation that a single truck accident can cause to injured victims and their families. From broken bones, to paralysis to death, commercial trucks are moving dangers on Arizona highways.

Common Causes of Arizona Commercial Trucking Accidents

Accidents like those that frequently occur on the I-10 are, unfortunately, far from uncommon. Commercial trucks, by nature, are more difficult to maneuver and as a result, truckers must be especially careful when driving them. There are a number of challenges associated with driving commercial trucks that can contribute to accidents.

- Weight. Commercial trucks can weight around 80,000 pounds or more, whereas passenger vehicles generally weigh around 3,000 pounds. The difference in size and weight can make these vehicles much more difficult to manage on the roads - in part because it takes much longer to stop large trucks, even when they are traveling at slower speeds
- Hazardous freight. Commercial trucks often carry flammable materials, which can make it even trickier for truckers to navigate their way on the roads. In addition, these hazardous materials can make an accident much more dangerous and cause serious injuries like respiratory problems and burns
- Employer expectations. In many cases, truckers work for companies that have implemented schedules that are impossible to adhere to and remain safe. Many commercial truck drivers are expected to hurry through their routes, and work on little rest, which can contribute to accidents
- Distracted driving. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is pushing for a complete ban on cell phones, for calling or texting, while a truck driver is behind the wheel, however, some truck drivers are still driving while distracted, putting others at risk.

Whatever the cause of a commercial truck accident, whether in Tucson or elsewhere on busy Arizona interstates, when the negligence of a commercial driver causes injury to you or your family, you may have the right to compensation for your injuries. Tucson truck accident attorneys can help you understand and assert your rights.
