/Worldwide Who's Who/ -- Barbara M. Duckett Wallace, notary public for the National Notary Association and coordinator of patient services for Bellevue Hospital Center, was recently named a VIP member of Worldwide Who's Who. This special distinction honors individuals who have shown exceptional commitment to achieving personal and professional success.
Ms. Duckett Wallace has 53 years of professional experience. She became involved in her profession after getting her start as a medical stenographer, whereby she quickly became an assistant to executives. As coordinator of patient services for the Bellevue Hospital Center, she excelled at coordinating and supervising the volunteer-friendly visitor program, through which volunteers — including retirees, adults, premed and nursing students — visit inpatients at bedside. In addition, she presided over fundraiser operations and daycare center coordination.
After 50 years of employment with the Bellevue Hospital Center, Ms. Duckett Wallace retired as coordinator in 2009, but came back as a volunteer in the same position. She has also been an active notary public for 30 years. She expertly administers oaths and affirmations, and notarizes a variety of documents — i.e., contracts, power documents and depositions, etc. Furthermore, she coordinated the art exhibition at Bellevue for 25 years, wrote a play and soap opera while at Lehman College, and has authored articles and other subject matter material regarding notary publics. Ms. Duckett-Wallace attributes her success to the struggles she had to face growing up disadvantaged, but knowing that she could persevere.
Ms. Duckett Wallace received a Bachelor of Arts in black studies and journalism from Lehman College. She is a Licensed notary public and pursuing accreditation as an official instructor of notary publics. She is a member advocate of the National Notary Association. In 2000, she was distinguished as Notary of the Year. She serves as president of the board for Bellevue Daycare Center. She was the recipient of the 100-Year Associate Award with Steven McDonald, and recognized by the mayor of New York for her contributions to disability mentoring. Earlier in 2012, Ms. Duckett-Wallace was inducted as a Worldwide Who's Who VIP member for excellence in her profession.
