Over the duration of his career, Dr. Ben Crue gained almost five decades of experience in chronic pain psychiatry
GARDNERVILLE, NV, January 28, 2013 /Worldwide Who's Who/ -- Ben Crue, Retired Physician/Neurosurgeon for the Chronic Pain Center of Gardnerville, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in chronic pain psychiatry.

As a child, Benjamin Crue's parents would bring him books from the library for him to read, and after reading about Sigmund Freud at the age of 8, he knew he wanted to be a doctor. He now holds 46 years of experience as a physician and neurosurgeon. Dr. Crue served in the Chronic Pain Center of Gardnerville, a health care practice geared toward chronic pain psychiatry.

In 1948, Dr. Crue became a medical doctor through the University of Chicago and went on to complete a neurosurgical residency with the Huntington Memorial Hospital. Dr. Crue served in the U.S. Navy for 13 years of active duty, including tours at Navy hospitals in Oakland and San Diego, Calif., and Chelsea, Mass., retiring as captain. He has maintained affiliations with several organizations over the years, including the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the American Pain Society and the International Association for the Study of Pain. A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, he is also a founding member of ISAP.

Dr. Crue was the first and only neurosurgeon in southwest Colorado, as he ran the Durango Pain Rehabilitation Center. He worked 80-hour workweeks and retired in 1993. He has seven books published, including "Interesting Patients from Forty-Five Years of Neurosurgical Practice - 1948-1993" and is currently writing a book on chronic pain treatment with Jack Pinsk, with whom he has worked for 20 years. He attributes his success to his supportive wife, good fortune, and his health and education, and at 86 years old, he plans to continue to publish books in the near future.
