MY BIG GAY ITALIAN WEDDING
By Anthony J Wilkinson
October 24 - November 3, 2013

"I absolutely loved this performance. A gay wedding is about to take place and there is chaos, jealousy and humour. It is fast moving, funny, with great choreography and bright outrageous costumes... This is a must see play. If you decide to come down, practice up on your chicken dance, after all you are attending a wedding and what would a wedding be without the chicken dance." Karen Fitzgibbons, ReviewVancouver.org (http://reviewvancouver.org/th_gay_italian_wedding2013.htm)
Andrew Pinnunziato (Mark Philip) is a young man that wants what any young man in love wants - a big Italian wedding at Brooklyn's finest banquet hall with a big buffet and, of course, lots of drama, chaos and... big hair.
Raving Theatre is an ensemble company and many of the cast have appeared together in numerous productions including Home Again, Memoirs of a SGWM, Some Men and Six Grooms a Bride and a Gun. Chronic Ravers include Tara Webster (Lucia), Kathleen Driscoll (Angela), Matthew Fedorowicz (Andrew), Larry Colcy (Maurizio LeGrande) and Bryan Kelly (Frankie).
Mark Philip is one of the new kids on the Raving block. He plays Anthony, a dewy eyed young Italian boy from Brooklyn who has attended countless big gay Italian weddings of cousins, aunts, uncles and friends and just wants to proclaim his love in the same way.
Goldie Hoffman (Connie), Joel Semande (Gregorio), Bruce Hill (Joseph/Father Rosalia), Leanne Kuzminski (Aunt Toniann), Natalie Schreiber (Maria), Michael Arzadon (Mario), Attilla Kallai, (Rodney) and Leanne Stennes (Nun/Wedding Guest) and complete the cast.
Rebecca Oben directs. A Studio 58 alumni, Becky has been involved in theatre most of her life and part of the Raving Theatre family since Take Me Out.
Raving Theatre is grateful for Xtra West's sponsorship of this production.

About My Big Gay Italian Wedding
My Big Gay Italian Wedding is a play written by Anthony J. Wilkinson that includes original music and lyrics written by David Boyd. It premiered off-Broadway in 2003 at the Actor's Playhouse in New York City. And continues at the St. Luke's Theater in New York City with various celebrities such as the Real Housewives of New Jersey coming and going from the cast over the years.
Plot summary: My Big Gay Italian Wedding satirizes the controversies surrounding same-sex marriage as well as gay and Italian stereotypes. Anthony Pinnunziato, a gay Italian-American from a large chaotic family, wishes to marry his boyfriend Andrew Polinski in a traditional Italian ceremony. Anthony's overbearing mother won't give her blessing unless Andrew's estranged mother also gives her blessing and the ceremony is performed by a priest. Matters are further complicated by Andrew's ex-boyfriend, intent on breaking up the couple.
