The company is entering its 12th year as an active supporter of the U.S. Marine Corp's Toys for Tots program. From now through December 18, area residents are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys for children ages 2 - 12 to any Birch location. Customers running short on time can easily donate by purchasing and donating from Birch's wide selection of construction-themed toys, children's art supplies and more.
"Over the past eleven years, Birch has collected over 2000 toys for local children," said Cara Buckingham, information director. "We know it's been a tough time for many more people than ever before and appreciate anything that they can do to help the neediest in our community have a better holiday.
Birch recently added a selection of items from toymaker, Green Toys. The company makes their products out of recycled plastic milk jugs and uses recyclable packaging. The Green Toys Recycling Truck was recently featured on Live! with Regis and Kelly as one of the Top 10 Toys heading into the holidays.
Birch stores are located in Bellingham at 1619 Kentucky Street, in Anacortes at 8876 S March Pt. Rd, and in Mt. Vernon at 2609 Old Hwy 99 South, and are open Monday -Friday 7am - 5:30pm, and Saturday 8am - 12pm.
