Bobbie Jean Chestnut, Author, Recalls her Life as a Young Military Wife Raising Children

KINGSLAND, GA, September 7, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Bobbie Jean Chestnut, Author, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in creative writing.

Ms. Chestnut is the author of "'Whew' How Did I Ever Do It?: A True Story of the Love and Struggles of a Young Mother." Published in 2008, it chronicles her experiences as a young military wife trying to raise four children under the age of 5, one of whom was born severely disabled. In the book, she also records various events throughout her colorful life, which include surviving the Great Alaskan Earthquake of 1964 and appearing on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 1988.

Prior to devoting herself to writing, Ms. Chestnut worked for the U.S. government for 25 years. She concluded her career in public service as a professional contracting officer for the Navy in the construction field. She worked with victims of violent crime and was honored in 1995 by the Mayor of Indiana for her contributions. She attributes her success to her "never give up" attitude and eagerness to learn and keep improving.

Ms. Chestnut completed coursework at Indiana University. She is a former member of the Navy Wives Club, Beta Sigma Phi, and the National Contract Management Association. She is a pro-life advocate and homeless advocate. She is a volunteer for the American Red Cross and the American Cancer Society. Now fully retired, Ms. Chestnut looks forward to continued writing and doing a lot of traveling.
