/Cambridge Who's Who/ -- Brenda Mae Bednar, Firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician for West Stafford Fire Department, has been recognized by
Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of public safety.
Ms. Bednar has 17 years of experience as a firefighter and emergency medical technician. She is in charge of managing emergency rescue operations for West Stafford Fire Department and is respected as a veteran in interior structural firefighting, motor vehicle extrication, aerial truck operations, and confined space rescue. Prior to assuming her current position, Ms. Bednar served as a second lieutenant for seven years and worked as a hazardous materials technician. She is proud to have carved a place for herself in a profession traditionally dominated by men and attributes her success to continuing to learn even when she is on the job and to enjoying the support of her family and the members of her fire team.
A Certified Fire Fighter Level II, Ms. Bednar was honored with three Life Saving Awards, a Commendation Medal for Heroism, and two Outstanding Volunteer Service Awards. She gives generously to the Native American Heritage Association, the United Way, the U.S. National Guard, Modest Needs, and Habitat for Humanity. Additionally, she coaches Little League and was a Cub Scout leader for six years. Ms. Bednar looks forward to completing 20 years in active duty and taking on a more administrative role at the fire department.
