BRIGHTON, AUSTRALIA, January 30, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Taking place at the Stamford Plaza, Melbourne, 19th to 21st February, The Online Retail Supply Chain Forum features an exciting array of presentations, discussions and case studies on how to enable traditional retail supply chains for online retail distribution. Oliver Wight partner, Mike Reed, will present on day two of the event and host a post-conference supply chain workshop.

Controlling the supply chain and optimising inventory management results in significant savings to the bottom line and increases the financial health of the company. But, as Reed explains, "Making big decisions without first identifying precisely where your organisation is - in absolute terms and in relation to its competitors and peers - is an extremely risky business."

Reed's inspiring presentation 'Benchmarking to drive improvement of e-tail supply chains' will address:

Why it is important to benchmark your supply chain
What leading e-supply chains do differently
How to go about supply chain benchmarking
Learning from data and analytics case examples

In Reed's workshop, 'Fundamentals for Supply Chain Optimisation', on February 21st, delegates will learn how to take the appropriate steps to transform their supply chain to meet the needs of a dynamic marketplace, efficiently and sustainably.

"The Australian retail industry and retailers around the world are grappling with the dynamic expectations of techno-savvy customers and how these expectations directly impact the way retailers and their supply chains work to maintain market share. It is fundamental organisations align their people, processes and tools to the overall business plan, if they want to progress along the supply chain journey," concludes Reed.

Integrated Business Planning
At the leading edge of management thinking and practice, our Integrated Business Planning (IBP) model lies at the heart of our clients' journey to outstanding business performance. Oliver Wight are the originators of sales and operations planning (S&OP) and IBP can most simply be described as advanced S&OP. However, unlike S&OP, IBP brings a truly strategic perspective, integrating diverse processes - in the extended supply chain, product and customer portfolios, customer demand and strategic planning - into one seamless management process.

Supply Chain Optimisation
In an uncertain business climate, volatile demand and unpredictability can expose weaknesses in supply chain performance. Supply Chain Optimisation helps companies improve sub-standard systems and processes, delivering a significant return to the bottom line.

Meeting the Class A Standard
The Oliver Wight Class A Checklist is the longest standing and most successful business assessment tool. The latest, Sixth Edition, raises the bar, and sets ever more demanding standards for companies on their journey to business excellence and the Oliver Wight Class A standard.
