Parsippany, NJ, August 30, 2008—Amanda G. Gillespie, Project Manager for Skanska USA Building Inc., has been named Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Construction Management. While inclusion in Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only two male and two female members in each discipline are named the
Cambridge Who's WhoProfessional of the Year. The Cambridge Who's Who selection committee chooses these special honorees based on their accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership, and service.
Gillespie has more than 13 years of professional experience in construction management and specializes in project management. She was inspired to join this exciting industry by her father, the late Bruce Harms, who was an executive for a leading construction manager in Oklahoma. She believes her persistence and dedication to overcoming daily challenges are the driving forces behind her success. Currently she is a Project Manager for Skanska USA Building. In this role she is charged with managing subcontractors, project cost and scheduling, and interfacing daily with design professionals and project owners.
She is proud to have been directly involved with many well-known construction projects including the U.S. Census Bureau Headquarters just outside of Washington, D.C.; the New Orleans Sports Arena; the Foxwoods Rainmaker Casino in Connecticut; the Shops at Willowbend in Plano, Texas; and the renovation of the Oklahoma City Zoo. The next renovation project on Gillespie's schedule is Madison Square Garden in New York. She considers being named to such projects as the Census Bureau Headquarters and Madison Square Garden as highlights of her career.
Gillespie earned her Masters in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix, graduating in 2006 and a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management and Engineering from Oklahoma State University in 1996. This year she is also recognized by the National Association of Professional Women, and included in their membership.
