This lightweight, ferrite magnet, high frequency unit has been made available at a very cost-competitive price point, making Celestion compression driver technology even more accessible to sound reinforcement system builders.
Developed at Celestion's headquarters in Ipswich, England, CDX1-1445 is a 25mm/1-inch exit compression driver that features a 35mm/1.4-inch diameter, copper clad aluminium voice coil. The device provides 20-watt power handling and delivers 106dB sensitivity over a frequency range of 1500-20,000Hz.
In 2012 a 16-ohm driver was also made available, to complement the exising 8-ohm device. This year also saw the introduction of a variant with a 35mm screw fitting (CDX1-1446).
Ideal for 2-way and 3-way enclosures, the CDX1-1445 features a rigid, glass-filled engineering plastic front cover, with a single piece PETP diaphragm and surround held in place by a precision aluminium carrier. All of which makes this device exceptionally consistent and reliable.
In common with all of Celestion's professional audio product range, the CDX1-1445 compression driver has been optimized using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) techniques to maximise performance while minimising unwanted distortion. This enables the device to deliver exceptional performance at this extremely competitive price bracket.
