As an example, in her first book, "Souls Pass," she had never flown in an airplane before, so she researched what happened in an airplane when it was airborne. To determine the time it would typically take from one location to another, she used Google. Though she has a great passion for her craft, Ms. Penfold feels that writing is more of a hobby for her than a career. Someday, she would love to be able to give up her regular day job to be able to write full time and have it support her family, but if that doesn't happen, she is fine with that. She was never the type of person that took up other hobbies like knitting or other types of crafts. Instead, she took pen to paper.
Looking back, Ms. Penfold attributes her success to her family and her own accomplishments. She became involved in her profession because she had a love of romance novels and fictional stories. The highlight of her career is seeing her characters come to life in her stories, which is the most rewarding achievement that she can think of. Knowing that she has the support of her family and friends who have enjoyed reading what she has written is what has kept her busy writing, knowing that people are actually enjoying her stories. Another highlight was having her first manuscript published and seeing her name in writing.
Ms. Penfold received a degree in accounting in 1991. In years to come, Ms. Penfold intends to have one of her books edited and published by a professional.
