Charles M. O'Connor, M.Ed. Recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for Excellence in Greenhouse Horticulture

Mr. O'Connor transitioned his career from education to horticulture



He became involved in his profession because of the inspiration he received from his grandparents, who taught him to sow plants and flowers

    GREENSBORO, NC, December 19, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ --Charles M. O'Connor, Owner of Charles O'Connor Greenhouse, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in greenhouse horticulture.

Mr. O'Connor has 10 years of experience as the owner of Charles O'Connor Greenhouse. As a grower, he specializes in the cultivation of tomato plants and rooting camellias. In the course of his duties, he is responsible for growing vegetables and flowers for farmers, as well as overseeing public sales for a company that aids in resales.

Mr. O'Connor is a retired teacher who has served in the education field for 25 years. In the first six years, he was a teacher at Andrews High School in High Point, NC. In the next six years, he was the assistant principal at Smith High School in Greensboro, NC. During the next nine years, he was the assistant director of bus transportation for the Greensboro, NC City School District. In the next two years, he was a social studies teacher at Grimsley High School, and during the last three years, he was in charge of the In-School Suspension and After School Detention Programs for Grimsley High School. He attributes his success to his motivation, ability to set and achieve goals, and rich scouting background as an eagle scout and camp counselor. He became involved in his profession because of the inspiration he received from his grandparents, who taught him to sow plants and flowers.

Mr. O'Connor received a Master of Education in educational administration from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1979, as well as a Bachelor of Arts. He is a member of the Pine Haven Village Association, the High Chaparral Property Owners Association, and AARP. In recognition of his professional excellence, he received the Administrator of the Year Award from Smith High School in 1982 and 1985, and a Teacher of the Year Award from Andrews High School in 1979. To further his involvement in the Boy Scouts of America, he joined the prestigious Order of the Arrow society, which limits its membership to hand-selected scouts and adult leaders. In years to come, Mr. O'Connor hopes to continue growing professionally and teach part time at a university.
