-- Chef Tom Hurley is passionate about all things culinary, and enjoys keeping up with how the restaurant scenes across the country continue to grow and evolve. He is excited about the prospect of a star-studded addition to the Las Vegas dining scene. A new article
explains that celebrity chef and TV food personality Giada De Laurentiis is expected to open her first restaurant inside the Gansevoort Las Vegas. Reports state that the restaurant will simply be called Giada's.
Eater Vegas reports that the restaurant will be 12,853 square feet and will be located on the second floor, thus providing diners with ample views of the Vegas strip. The restaurant was originally supposed to be 27,836 square feet. At this time, the plan is to only open one location. Rumors have run rampant for a while regarding De Laurentiis's restaurant plans, and now it seems that these whisperings have come to fruition.
De Laurentiis is known for her perky demeanor and has quickly become a fan favorite among foodies. She has an extensive background in the culinary field, including working in the kitchen at Wolfgang Puck's Spago. From there, she landed her own show on the ever-popular Food Network in 2003. Ever since then, De Laurentiis has continued to expand her food empire and her personal brand. To date, she has several cookbooks to her name, as well as a line of cooking supplies at Target, and regular television specials on the Cooking Channel. She is also in negotiations to do a talk show with Bobby Flay.
"It is always good when someone with experience and passion for the field decides to open a restaurant. The celebrity appeal will also help to bring in customers. However, celebrity or not, passion and understanding are two key components for a successful restaurant. The restaurant industry is neither as easy nor as glamorous as it may seem. Through her years in the business, it seems that Giada knows exactly what to expect. I look forward to seeing what her restaurant has to offer patrons. The unique location with its scenic views will also prove appealing to both tourists and locals looking to take in the Vegas strip in all its glory," explains Chef Tom Hurley.
As of late, there is no confirmation from the Gansevoort or De Laurentiis about the deal; however, industry experts believe that the goal is to have an opening in early 2014.
"This kind of news is always exciting for the field, including industry experts and foodies. De Laurentiis is certainly a well-known personality, so I imagine that her eatery would get some good publicity based on her image. However, high quality food and a beautiful view will encourage patrons to keep returning after their initial visit," explains Chef Tom Hurley.
