LAPEER, MI, October 5, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Cherrye Carr-Aguirre, Owner of Lapeer Spirit Guidance & Counseling Center, PLC, LLC, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in counseling services.
With 35 years of practiced expertise in counseling, Cherrye Carr-Aguirre is considered an authority in her professional field. She has lent the last 12 years as the proprietor of Lapeer Spirit Guidance & Counseling Center, LLC. At her post, she specializes in rehabilitation, social work, psychotherapy and reality-choice therapy. In addition to overseeing the daily operations of the counseling center, Ms. Carr-Aguirre is responsible for counseling youth and coordinating community services. She notes that she became involved in her profession due to an interest in the medical field and is especially proud that her name has been included on the Wall of Tolerance at the Southern Poverty Law Center in Montgomery, Alabama.
An unyielding desire to help others is the driving force behind Ms. Carr-Aguirre's success. She has an uncanny ability to communicate with children, and provide them with a comfortable environment in which to heal. She also assists junior and high school students, helping them to procure grants and scholarships for college. Ms. Carr-Aguirre is recognized as a committed philanthropist and caring counselor within her community, known for her humble and giving nature. In 2008, her efforts were honored with the Cambridge Who's Who "Professional of the Year in Counseling Services." The title of "Professional of the Year" is only given to two people per year in each industry, celebrating their academic, professional and philanthropic achievements.
A certified catastrophic rehabilitation counselor, guidance counselor and board certified physiotherapist, she received her master of social work, with a concentration in clinical and MACO studies, from Wayne State University in 1984 and her bachelor's degree in guidance counseling, business and hospital management from Oakland University in 1975. A diplomate and fellow of the American Physiological Society, she is a member of her local chamber of commerce, the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Family Literacy Center in Lapeer.
