BELLMORE, NY, June 6, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Christina B. Smith, Registered Nurse for New Island Hospital, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of nursing.

A 30-year veteran of the healthcare field, Ms. Smith is recognized as an expert in nursing administration. She brings her talents to New Island Hospital, an affiliate of the North Shore Long Island Jewish Health System. As an RN, she is responsible for working with patients in the cardiology section and caring for patients after they are discharged from the intensive care unit and ensuring that they receive the best possible care. Ms. Smith has had a successful career in hospital administration, having served as director of nursing practice at Kaiser Permanente in Richmond, CA from 1991 to 2000. She also has considerable experience in medical-surgical, critical care and emergency room nursing at Oakland Hospital in California. She recently moved back to her native Long Island to help care for her elderly parents.

Ms. Smith completed refresher courses in nursing at Molloy College in Rockville Centre to bring her skills back up to date. She earned an MBA from John F. Kennedy University in 1991 and a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from Holy Names University in 1981. She is affiliated with the American Nurses Association.
