JONESBORO, GA, November 25, 2009
/24-7PressRelease/ -- The Decorum Group, Inc., a non-profit personal training organization that focuses on the etiquette, social skills and leadership development needs of children in Clayton County will hold an adult simulation called Reality Check for teens ages 12 - 19 on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at the Clayton County Water Authority located at 1600 Battle Creek Road, Morrow, GA from 11:00 am - 5:00 pm.
This program is designed to expose teens to the realities of life that await them in adulthood. Participates will be placed in family scenarios and required to care for children, earn wages, manage household expenses and conduct banking transactions, all while dealing with life stressors such as car repairs and low wages.
Charly McCracken, founder of The Decorum Group, Inc. said that she made the decision to provide this program because many teens need to understand that they must make good choices now to support success in their futures. "I suspect that after participating in this program, many children will appreciate their childhood and have a desire to complete their education and work to create a plan of action that will provide them with 'gainful' employment; rather than just a job."
To prepare for this experience, The Decorum Group, Inc. will be holding a personal finance class prior to Reality Check on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 11:00 - 2:00 at the Jim Huie Recreation Center located at 9045 Tara Boulevard, Jonesboro, GA.
The Decorum Group, Inc. strives to help children navigate puberty and prepare them to graciously transition into adult hood. Ms. McCracken states, "We provide the knowledge that lies in the gap between textbooks and true success. We want our children to thrive not simply survive. We have taken on the charge of being involved in our children's development to such an extent that the end result will be self-sufficient, productive citizens."
These programs are available to any teen who resides in Clayton County, but space is limited. Parents interested in enrolling their child should contact Ms. McCracken by phone at (404) 704-2197 or by sending her an email at charly@decorumgroup.org. Ms. McCracken invites parents to visit her website (www.decorumgroup.org) to find out about more programs coming in 2010. Her mission is to promote academic achievement, self-esteem and appropriate social conduct while supporting the creation of career paths plans for children.
There are no fees for children to participate; however, The Decorum Group, Inc. always graciously accepts in-kind donations.
