- Richmond, KY, July 3, 2008, Cloia Mae Sparks, Owner of Appalachian Therapeutic Massage Center, has been recognized by
Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of massage therapy.
With more than eight years of professional experience, Ms. Sparks specializes in deep tissue massage and myofascial release. Her primary responsibilities include performing sports massage and reflexology, managing operations and marketing. Ms. Sparks previously worked for Toyota for seven years. She became involved in her profession after being treated for a back injury, which influenced her to start her business. Ms. Sparks stays current with the trends in her profession by enrolling in continuing education courses. She considers becoming a national certified massage therapist and being named on the Dean's List to be her greatest career accomplishments, and she hopes to become a physical therapist in the future.
Ms. Sparks earned her license in massage therapy through Bluegrass Professional School of Massage Therapy in 2000. She also completed coursework in massage therapy and is focusing on becoming a certified medical assistant. She is affiliated with Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals and volunteers with the Special Olympics. Ms. Sparks considers the economic decline and lack of insurance coverage as the most important issues facing her profession today.
