Dr. Kyle Heaton stresses the importance of oral health in 2014 and beyond!

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL, February 27, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Play dates, meetings, deadlines, dinner plans and family time. Juggling multiple tasks is the norm for many families. That's why it's easy to lose track of what's important, such as oral health.

Dr. Heaton recently posted a reminder on his Facebook page about February being National Children's Dental Health Month. While February is almost over, it doesn't mean your family should put your oral health on the back burner. Your family needs to be more aware than ever because tooth decay and tooth loss are prevalent problems in the U.S.

"The CDC and national dental organizations are revealing more statistics that reveal tooth decay and tooth loss are common concerns-nationwide concerns. For the Crystal Lake community, I have treated many decay cases. Preventative dental products and tools are much popular now than ever before, but that doesn't mean people are taking advantage of them," explains Dr. Heaton, Crystal Lake dentist at Brink Street Dental.

Tooth decay is the most common chronic disease of childhood. The American Dental Association revealed in a recent study that kids are totaling 51 million missed school hours because of decay. That's huge. Parents clocked in 25 million missed work hours.

Your time is precious, and it probably is spread thin each day. If you add dental problems to that routine, it becomes one more thing to stress about. A cavity-free checkup is possible. For your family, it's as easy as 1-2-3:
- Brush your teeth twice a day (time it for two minutes each)
- Floss at least once a day
- Visit your dentist every six months
