Daniel Lyman Ridout III, MD, FACP Recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for Outstanding Achievement in Gastroenterology

For the past 31 years, Daniel Lyman Ridout III, MD, FACP has served the health care industry. Beginning his career as an internist in Philadelphia, Dr. Ridout quickly realized his passion for gastroenterology. Motivated by working with minorities, he moved to Virginia and spent the next 26 years practicing at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital. Currently, Dr. Ridout is the chief of gastroenterology for the hospital. Riverside Memorial Hospital is a 143 bed facility which offers patients an exemplary medical and surgical team, as well as critical care and mental health services. Currently, Riverside Memorial Hospital is the only hospital facility in the area, and therefore the hospital regularly admits local fishermen, farmers, and vacationers. As chief of the gastroenterology department, Dr. Ridout educates patients on prevention, mentors residents and students, and works to alleviate anxiety for patients who are frightened. Drawing on his educational background, which includes an MD from the University of Cincinnati, he also performs gastroenterology procedures, consults within the hospital, and provides clinical care.

Dr. Ridout is also proficient in community-based medicine. Board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology, he serves as a Fellow with the American College of Physicians, and is a member with the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the American Gastroenterological Association. He has also won community service awards for his charitable contribution to Sylvia Olden Music Guild, American Cancer Society, United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, and the National Association of Negro Musicians, Incorporated.
