- San Antonio, TX, May 16, 2008, David Delgado, MPAS, PAC, Chief Physician Assistant of Cardiothoracic Surgery for the Department of Veterans Affairs, has been recognized by
Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of cardiac healthcare.
Mr. Delgado has a 20-year background in cardiac medicine, during which he has honed an expertise in assisting with cardiothoracic surgery. A fluent speaker of Spanish and English, he is a key component to his medical team with the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of patients. The Department of Veterans Affairs is a government organization that provides healthcare services including coronary artery bypass surgery, heart valve replacement surgery, aorta repair and replacement, endoscopic vein harvest, and thoracic and esophagus surgery for cancer eradication.
Prior to joining the Department of Veterans Affairs, Mr. Delgado worked as a senior academic advisor for the Department of Combat Medical Training at Fort Sam Houston, as a deputy division surgeon and senior physician assistant for the Second Infantry Division for the Republic of South Korea, and as a senior military physician assistant and clinical perfusionist for the Brooke Army Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston, TX. He attributes his success to his personal drive.
In addition to holding his physician assistant certification, Mr. Delgado earned his Master of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Nebraska. He holds several positions in industry organizations including clinical and oral examiner for the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, President of the Bexar County of Physician Assistants Association, and affiliated member of the Society of Army Physician Assistants, the Veterans Affairs Physician Assistants Association, and the American Academy of Physician Assistants.
