-- David Yaffe, Client Business Director II for Johnson Controls Canada LP, began his career in 1979 with Westcoast Energy Inc. Here, he worked with several gas processing plants in several positions, including that of plant manager. In 1998, he became director of facilities at Vancouver Coastal Health, where he was responsible for all facility operations and maintenance of Vancouver General Hospital, UBC Hospital, GF Strong Rehab, and George Pearson Centre.
In 2006, Mr. Yaffe moved on to Johnson Controls Canada LP, where he began as customer business director. Johnson Controls Canada LP is a facility management company that relies on Mr. Yaffe's experience to provide quality products, services and solutions to optimize energy and the operational efficiencies of buildings. Initially, he was hired to set up the first P3 hospital in British Columbia. Following substantial completion, he took responsibility for FM accounts in Western Canada, while continuing to direct the P3 hospital project. For the past two years, he has served as client business director II, which put him as project lead on the Humber River P3 project during design and construction for JCI Facility Management. Mr. Yaffe also works closely with the financier and design team, with the objective of ensuring successful operations and maintenance within the concession period.
Mr. Yaffe attributes his success to his ability to diagnose technical problems. He became involved in his profession because of his many years of service in the pulp and paper mill industry. Impressively, Mr. Yaffe has conquered his entire career based on experience, streets smarts, and a high school education.
