/Cambridge Who's Who/ - Thatcher, AZ, July 5, 2008, Debbie Heaton, Coordinator of the Strong Family Program for Arizona's Children Association, has been recognized by
Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of non-profit management.
With a total of 25 years of experience in her field, Ms. Heaton has worked as a program coordinator with Arizona's Children Association for eight years. Ms. Heaton became involved in her profession through her work with patients at a residential facility; she realized that she enjoyed working with others in this capacity and progressed naturally to her current position. Today, her expertise is in teaching classes on drug prevention, anger management, caring for newborn children and parenting skills, including proper child discipline. She is also skilled in mental health counseling and substance abuse counseling. On a daily basis, Ms. Heaton is responsible for monitoring grants, organizing staff, conducting research and engaging community outreach programs for First Things First. Ms. Heaton's newest undertaking is a project called Parents as Teachers, which offers one-on-one sessions for parents and deals with child development from ages 1 to 3 years. Arizona's Children Association is a non-profit organization that provides foster care, adoption services, behavioral health services, prevention programs and child welfare services.
Also an accomplished writer, Ms. Heaton has published three novels: The Seminole Way, Night Stalks the Gray House and The Dream Suite. She has completed a manuscript entitled Incident at Quail Crossing and is currently working on another as she pursues representation.
Ms. Heaton received her Master's Degree in Health Services Management from La Salle University in 1998 and received her Bachelor of Arts in Health Services Management from La Salle University in 1996. She is a member of the American Mental Health Counselors Association and the International Women's Writers' Guild. She was the recipient of the Juvenile Justice Task Force Award in 2006 for her continuing excellence in providing services to women and children.
