For the past 36 years, Deborah Swail has honed her skill set for change transformation in the financial services and life insurance industry. As an innovative and strategic thinker, she has gained a wealth of experience in business transformation, human resources management, program management, as well as sales and leadership training and facilitation. Most recently, Deborah completed a 4-year assignment at Foresters, a fraternal organization in the life insurance business. During her time there, she managed the Business Architecture and PMO groups, including the transition of Foresters resources to CGI in 2009, and the repatriation of the functions in 2011. Primarily, her role included the delivery of a strategically important business transformation program, including nine initiatives, and the re-design of business processes to automate new business processing, underwriting and policy administration. Since the inception of the program, Deborah has delivered numerous key benefits to the organization including cost reductions, productivity improvements, and an increase in client satisfaction. All of which have been described as marking a momentous change in the way Foresters does business.
Drawing on her previous experience and educational background, which includes an MBA from University of Toronto, she has become proficient in integrating change and process improvement initiatives. Previously, Deborah won honorable mention from the Canadian Public Relations Society for the employee communication program she and her team developed for a large change initiative at Scotiabank. With a penchant for building effective business relationships, Deborah aims to continue networking and consulting with professionals in the coming years.
Deborah has been an active fund raiser and volunteer with Habitat for Humanity. She also continues to be a committee member for the annual Foresters charity golf tournament benefitting the Children's Miracle Network.
