Ron Sturgeon and King Charles Cavaliers
FORT WORTH, TX, September 25, 2012
/24-7PressRelease/ -- On Wednesday, Oct. 17, DFW Elite
Toy Museum will hold a Grand Opening party to unveil its latest exhibit, Race Cars, featuring small and large-scale model cars, various racing items and special memorabilia. Visitors will see vintage Indianapolis 500 programs dating back to 1935, including a special
1958 Indy program signed by many drivers in that year's event.
The new exhibit fits in well with DFW Elite Toy Museum's collection, which features more than 3,000 vintage models, pedal cars and toys, mostly with an automotive theme. The museum also has antique models and
rare toy motorcycles, helicopters and ships, and offers free tours of its entire collection.
But the museum's other theme-- dogs-- is also represented in the newest exhibit's Grand Opening: The event benefits
Cavalier Rescue USA, an organization that rescues, treats, and finds good homes for Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. Once taken in by the rescue, the dogs receive veterinary treatment, including vaccinations,
dog grooming, teeth cleaning and heartworm or surgical attention, if necessary.
According to Museum Curator Rodney Ross, the benefit reflects two passions of Dallas-based entrepreneur and
Tarrant County commercial real estate developer Ron Sturgeon, whose collection is on display at the museum.
"Anyone who visits DFW Elite Toy Museum will notice two things: Ron's love of cars and his love of dogs," Ross said. "Opening a car highlighting race cars like the Jeron models and helping a dog rescue at the same time is a perfect fit for us. We're excited about the event and hoping for a great turnout to help a worthy cause."
The Grand Opening runs from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at DFW Elite Toy Museum, 5940 Eden Drive in Fort Worth. Hors d'oeuvres will be served and valet parking will be provided. The event is open to the public, with the entire $10 donation benefiting
Cavalier Rescue USA.
