NEW YORK, NY, November 02, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Cellulite can affect any woman, no matter what size her body. In fact, it is estimated that as many as 90 percent of women have or will develop cellulite at some point in their life.

Cellulite can be caused by a number of factors including genetics, hormones, tight underwear, inactivity, and diet. Once it has developed, there is little that can be done outside of procedures such as liposuction or Cellulaze to remove it. However, steps taken prior to its appearance may help prevent it, and steps taken after a cellulite treatment may help prevent it from coming back.

Diet
Some research has suggested that foods can actually banish cellulite. While this may not be true for every woman, it is certainly true that certain foods can help keep cellulite from returning.

Foods high in omega fatty acids, antioxidants, and lecithin are all helpful for the prevention of cellulite. Try to consume a larger quantity of foods such as:
- Dark leafy greens
- Bright fruits and vegetables
- Nuts and seeds
- Fish
- Whole grains

Drinking several glasses of water throughout the day can also help fight cellulite.

Of course, you will want to avoid certain foods as well. These include:
- Simple carbohydrates
- Fried foods
- Sugary snacks and drinks
- Processed foods

Remember, what you put into your body impacts more than its appearance. Adopting a healthy diet can help reduce your risk for several diseases and provide you with a much more enjoyable quality of life.

Exercise

Cardiovascular exercises are best at fighting cellulite. These include walking, jogging, running, swimming, and biking, along with competitive activities such as tennis, volleyball, hockey, or soccer. In fact, any activity that raises your heartbeat through physical exertion can help reduce and prevent cellulite. Combined with a healthy diet, these activities can also help you live longer and feel better.

If your efforts fail to prevent cellulite, don't worry. An experienced plastic surgeon can assess your skin elasticity and help you determine which cellulite treatment will restore your body to its smoothest and most youthful appearance.
