PHOENIX, AZ, May 20, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Across the Phoenix, Tempe, Mesa area and Maricopa County, "dog parks" or "bark parks" are popping up all over valley. Usually these dog parks are fenced off areas away from a park where family, friends and, children gather to play basketball, have picnics, or barbeque. In the fenced area, dogs are allowed to run off a leash, play with other dogs without interfering with pedestrians. Dog Parks tend to have readily available water for dogs and pooper-scoopers or plastic bags.

Like any Maricopa County community park, the Dog Park has rules:

• Dogs in heat are not allowed
• Aggressive dogs are not allowed
• Owners must watch the dog in the area
• Vaccinations must be up to date
• Children or Adults may not play with a dog in the fenced area
• Dogs must obey leash laws until in the fenced area
• More than one dog is welcomed as long as the owner can handle it

However, not every Arizona dog owner follows dog park rules. Owners tend to feel that if their dog has never attacked or bitten someone, that their dog is not susceptible to future attacks. But any dog can viciously or non-viciously bite a person without any reason. Dogs do not need a reason and are often accidentally provoked by victim. But the victim is not to blame.

Dog owners are legally responsible for the actions of their dogs, even when at a "dog park" or "bark park," If someone else's dog has injured you or someone you love, the owner is liable for your damages, including medical bills, lost wages, and pain and suffering. If a dog in Phoenix, Tempe, Mesa or elsewhere in Maricopa County has bitten you, you should contact an experienced Arizona dog bite attorney to represent you.

Tips for Park Goers near Dog or Bark Parks:
• Do not enter the designated dog area
• Do not run past a dog
• If a dog sniffs you, stay still.
• A dog toy is that, a dog toy. It is not meant for adults or children.
• Do not break up any dog fights between dogs that may occur within or outside the fence area.
