/24-7PressRelease/ -- The Domestic Abuse Helpline for Men & Women (DAHMW) was recently nominated for Bangor Savings Bank Community Matters More program in Maine. DAHMW was one among 48 nonprofit organizations from around the state of Maine who were selected to participate in the program. Each organization is slated to receive a $1,000 grant from the bank with the potential to increase that to $5,000.
"I am thrilled that DAHMW was selected for this program," said Jan Brown director and founder of DAHMW. "We work solely off grants, donations and volunteer work so this would help us a great deal."
DAHMW, a nonprofit organization founded in October 2000, provides support services to victims and survivors of domestic abuse. The organization specializes in offering support to male victims of spousal and intimate partner violence. The organization also offers services to women in abusive relationships. Though the organization is located in Maine they receive calls from all over the country.
DAHMW was selected to receive a $1,000 grant and hopes to be one of the eight deserving organizations (one from each region) to receive a $5,000 grant. People from the community and all over the country can participate in voting for the organizations they find most deserving.
