"Gardens have for centuries and across cultures been recognized for their unique therapeutic powers," states Ms. Wolfe Murray on her website, http://www.independentgardening.co.uk, "and part of the work I do is designing gardens specifically for people affected by traumatic brain injury." Ms. Wolfe Murray is the director of Independent Gardening Limited, a garden design company that specializes in gardens for clients with neural disabilities such as cerebral palsy, PTSD, autism and brain injuries. Her role entails understanding the benefit of the external environment on clients, communicating these benefits and how they help the rehabilitation process, and assisting her clients in the design of their gardens. She also networks with occupational therapists, lawyers and case managers as an advocate for her clients.

Ms. Wolfe Murray has been working in this capacity since 2005. Her background is in marketing and communications, skills she now utilizes to operate her gardening business. She first ventured into gardening professionally in 2003, when she helped establish a small landscaping company. The work took her all over the U.K. designing, building and maintaining a variety of gardens. "My job is to ensure that the garden is not forgotten about, and that it makes your life as enjoyable as possible," Ms. Wolfe Murray further notes on her website. She attributes her success to genuinely liking people, learning from her mistakes and enjoying what she does.

In recognition of her exceptional work, Ms. Wolfe Murray has received a number of formal honors, including silver medals in the small garden category at the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show in 2007 and 2008. More recently, she received a silver medal for the Combat Stress Therapeutic Show Garden at the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show in
