/Worldwide Who's Who/ -- Dr. Dennis R. Pashen, Director of Medical Services in South Burnett for Queensland Health, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in rural and remote health care.
With more than four decades of experience in rural and remote health, and medical education, Dr. Dennis R. Pashen had served for 15 years as Director of the James Cook University Mt. Isa Centre for Rural and Remote Health and now as Director of Medical Services, South Burnett for Queensland Health. Trained as a family physician, Dr. Pashen regularly practices obstetrics and emergency medicine for his community. Proficient in population health, and capacity building for health in rural and remote communities, he also has served as President of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine, as a board member on the Queensland Health Minister's Rural Health Advisory Council, the National Rural Health Alliance, the Medical Training Review Panel and a number of working groups and committees of Health Workforce Australia.
Drawing on his educational background, which includes an MBBS from the University of Queensland and an MPHTM from James Cook University, since 1979 Dr. Pashen has held a fellowship with The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and since 1999 his fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine. Within his 40 years of experience, he spent 18 years working in medical education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including research in rural and remote health workforce policy development. Currently, Dr. Pashen is responsible for executive management of five small hospital facilities, a population of 35,000, and a medical staff of 14. Specializing in Family Practice and Obstetrics, he attributes his success to a strong work ethic and a commitment to the health of rural, remote and Indigenous communities. In the coming years, he intends to continue progressing his interests in rural medical education, research and working within rural health workforce reform.
