/24-7PressRelease/ - Westfield, NJ, June 20, 2008, Gloria O. Schrager, Clinical Professor of Pediatrics in Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of healthcare education.

With 60 years of professional experience, Dr. Schrager excelled in teaching pediatrics, conducting principal pediatric investigations and organizing residency training programs. Prior to joining the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University, she worked in her private practice for 19 years and as a director of pediatrics at Overlook Hospital for 17 years.

Dr. Schrager has recently published a memoir entitled "Medicine, Matzoh Balls and Motherhood: the Complex Life of a Woman Doctor," which will be displayed at the Frankfurt Book Fair in Germany in October 2008. She is writing another book and plans to continue her career as an author. She is a frequent speaker at book clubs and book fairs and has appeared at the Virginia Festival of the Book as well as on radio and television.

Dr. Schrager earned her MD from the Woman's Medical College of Pennsylvania in 1948. She is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Now retired, she was affiliated with the American Medical Association, the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the Academy of Medicine of New Jersey. She also received the Golden Merit Award from the Medical Society of New Jersey in 1998 and the Lifetime Achievement Award in Pediatrics from Overlook Hospital in 2000.
