Dr. Karlheinz Schwarz Ph.D, is recognized and admired for his expertise in the Computational Chemistry and Material Science Fields at the atomic level.

Dr. Karlheinz Schwarz is held in high esteem as a former professor at the Vienna University of Technology, Vienna, Austria as well as the Head of the Computational Quantum Theory Group.

Dr. Schwarz earned his Ph.D. in Computational Chemistry from the University of Vienna; Habilitation, Quantum Chemistry - Technical University of Vienna. He has had post-doctoral involvement with the Quantum Theory Project at the University of Florida, Gainesville Florida, and with the IBM Research Laboratory, San Jose, California.

With almost 40 years as a former professor at the Vienna University of Technology, Dr. Karlheinz Schwarz has used his talents, education and expertise to research and study some of the most puzzling scientific questions by starting from the atomic structure of materials and providing insight in their properties (of crystals or surfaces). Dr. Schwarz's specialization was research, as program leader in the development of the software package wien2k (see www.wien2k.at) for material sciences. His particular area of expertise was in the fields of Quantum Chemistry, Solid State Physics and Computation.

Dr. Schwarz has served as Vice Chairman of the Senate of the University of Vienna and Chairman of the Department of Chemistry at the Technical University of Vienna and is affiliated with the American Physical Society (A.P.S.). Dr. Schwarz received much recognition for his extraordinary work. In 2012, he received the Viennese Award for Engineers; in 2007 he received the Award from the City of Vienna. In 2006, he became a Foreign Member, Royal Society of Science, Uppsala University, Sweden; 2001: Corresponding Member of the Austrian Academy of Science; 1995, Rudolf Wegscheiderpreis of the Austrian Academy of Sciences; 1994, Science and Technology Agency (STA) Fellowship Award, Japan; 1975: Cardinal Innitzer Promotion Prize of Science and 1972, the Sandoz Prize. Since 1999 he is president of the Austrian Fulbright Alumni feeling as ambassador of mutual understanding and good will between the United States and Austria.

Dr. Karlheinz Schwarz Ph.D. continues to embrace his passion of science and education as he embarks on each new endeavor.
