SALT LAKE CITY, UT, January 01, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dustin Jorgenson attends the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Salt Lake City, Utah with his family. He recently returned from serving a two year mission in Ecuador where he assisted in building homes. While in Ecuador, Dustin Jorgenson fell in love with the Ecuadorian people and how selflessly they give what little they have to help others. This love led him to return to Ecuador to follow up with the families that he had been privileged to meet during his mission trip. On December 26th 2012 to January 12th 2013, Dustin Jorgenson returned to Otavalo, Ecuador.

Ecuador is a country in South America that is bordered by Columbia and Peru. Otavalo is considered to be one of the more prosperous communities and is home to a world famous marketplace. However, a great percentage of the Otavalos, especially those who live in the surrounding villages, live in poverty and are victims of racial discrimination. While on his mission trip, Dustin Jorgenson contributed to a number of projects in the surrounding villages. The largest project that Dustin Jorgenson was involved in was building a cinder block home for a single mother with eight children. Dustin Jorgenson was surprised to see the difference in living conditions for those who live in the town and the high levels of poverty in the surrounding villages.

We caught up with Dustin Jorgenson recently back from his mission trip. He said, "I was so humbled to be on this trip. We have so much here in the United States, and we take it for granted. Other people in the world get by with so much less. I was privileged that they opened their homes to me and that I was able to give back in some way. I enjoyed building houses for them and learning more about how they live."

As part of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Dustin Jorgenson, like most young men and women in the church, went out on a mission trip to serve his community. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has a strong history of sending out young people from the church to help serve those less fortunate in all parts of the world. Through this action, Dustin Jorgenson and others like him are given a first look at the reality of what it is like to really live in poverty. This act of kindness brings the missionary back home with a deeper appreciation for all they have been given in life, as well as a sense of having contributed to serving others.

As Dustin Jorgenson has returned from Otavalo, Ecuador, he has brought with him a commitment to serve others. He has a deep love and compassion for the many families that he has worked with in Ecuador and plans on returning to follow up with them. This mission trip has enriched Dustin Jorgenson's life in so many ways, from contributing good to the world and to giving him a better understanding of how poverty affects the world.

About: Dustin Jorgenson belongs to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and recently completed a mission to Ecuador.
