PHILADELPHIA, PA, December 12, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/
-- Lawsuits against pharmaceutical companies are common, as these organizations may release medications that are harmful to the patients who take them. San Francisco Chronicle has released an article, originally published by PRWeb, detailing the most recent controversy regarding GranuFlo. Eichholz Law Firm
, a renowned law firm located in Savannah, Georgia, encourages individuals who have been affected by GranuFlo to contact them at 1-800-665-2131 to learn more about the lawsuit against the makers of this pharmaceutical and to protect their potential case.
According to the article, Fresenius Medical Care is under investigation due to its failure to warn customers regarding the risks associated with the side effects of GranuFlo. Although these serious side effects, which are heart-related, were noted internally, the company did nothing to share its information with its customer clinics. As a result, Fresenius Medical Care put countless patients at risk of cardiac arrest. The article explains: "On March 29, 2012, Fresenius Medical Care issued an Urgent Product Notification to its customer clinics warning of possible heart risks associated with GranuFlo and NaturaLyte. Compared to rival products, GranuFlo and NaturaLyte contain higher levels of an ingredient that the body converts to bicarbonate. If a doctor fails to account for this when prescribing the dosage for the drugs, patients may experience a condition called alkalosis, which has been associated with cardiovascular death and catastrophic heart injuries in patients undergoing dialysis treatment. The notification would later be deemed a Class I recall by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration."
The issue stems from an internal email dated November of 2011, in which the company issued a warning regarding this potentially fatal outcome for patients to the dialysis clinics that it owned--not those run by customers who purchased these drugs. As such, the medical professionals providing the drug to patients from customer clinics were not aware of the situation.
Eichholz Law Firm asserts: "It is alarming to find that an internal memo within Fresenius Medical regarding patient care went ignored for more than five months. The lives of countless patients were needlessly placed in jeopardy. Patients on dialysis who suffered heart attacks or other heart trauma within 48 hours of treatment with GranuFlo or NaturaLyte may be entitled to compensation and are urged to seek legal advice to protect their rights."
The professionals at Eichholz Law Firm understand that it can be daunting for an individual to face the legal system after suffering from GranuFlo and other dangerous pharmaceuticals.
