NEW YORK, NY, January 18, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Looking for the queer events and places to go to? Instead of Googling venues for hours or having to ask people, now you can just turn on your phone, touch an app and figure out where to go.

Developed by Fueled, a leading iPhone app design and development agency based in New York, SheSeek is a website that allows its LGBT-identified female users to find the closest restaurants, clubs, bars, and fun events. That's not new, what is new is SheSeek's companion app for iPhone, the first mobile app in the app store to focus exclusively on this tightly knit community. It also features daily news and pop culture articles, which help its users stay connected to current events and the national LGBT community right from a user's mobile phone.

"I thought SheSeek could be a valuable resource because there is very little exposure and visibility for queer female communities, and for most, people generally find out about where to go by word of mouth," says Esther Zinn, founder and CEO of SheSeek. "Up until now, communities have remained small and largely divided—and I thought that leveraging the power of tech/social media and using mobile as a newly-emerging platform to help keep people informed of what's going on around them could be invaluable, both as a way to find cool new things to do and to be aware of what's happening politically for our community."

Zinn researched the top 25 cities with the highest LGBT women populations in the U.S. in order to create the app's extensive lists of queer friendly places and events. She also incorporated a starring system in the app. "There are gold stars and silver stars," says Leigh Alcott, producer at Fueled. "A gold star is for a place or event that's always gay, and a silver star is for a place that's gay on specific days of the week or month."

Within the app, users can filter places and events via three categories: Dine, Sip and Frolic. Users can then check out what's going on around them using the map view plus share places and events via Facebook or Email.

"It's really great for the people who want to know where to go or what's cool to do in a new city," says Alcott. "It's like a curated list for queer folk so that anytime they go to a new city they don't have to do the research on their own."

SheSeek's popularity has soared since launch, with its Facebook fan page garnering over 3,000 fans in just under one month.
