LAS VEGAS, NV, February 20, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Faith Lutheran High School strongly believes that it can win a football championship in the Division 1A Sunset League. On Tuesday - February 19th, during a private ceremony on campus, the school will back its belief by introducing its new head coach, Vernon Fox. Fox is a native Las Vegan who competed in the NFL (National Football League) for eight seasons with formidable teams including the multiple Super Bowl Champion Denver Broncos and Washington Redskins. Since retiring a few years ago, Fox has helped hundreds of youth become better players and individuals by hosting annual football camps in Mesquite, Nevada. Both Fox and Faith Lutheran share core Christian values, a commitment to academic excellence, and a strong desire to win. They both are excited and have great expectations for the future of Faith Lutheran's football program. Faith Lutheran's first home game is on August 23, 2013 and against Parker Lutheran from Denver, Colorado.
During an interview, Fox stated, "I am thrilled to have the opportunity to head Faith Lutheran's football program." Fox also said, "I have watched the program progress over the years, and I am coming into something that has been built the right way. Coaching at Faith Lutheran is a unique opportunity that allows me to not only enrich the lives of these young men athletically, but also spiritually. I will expect my players to win on the field, in the classroom, and in life. My endeavor is to enhance the character, work ethics, and level of excellence that will be the culture of Crusader Football."
Faith Lutheran's Principal, Scott Fogo, wrote in an e-mail, "After a nation-wide search that included candidates from 13 states, Faith Lutheran is pleased to announce the hiring of Vernon Fox as our new Head Football Coach. Vernon, a home-town hero, represents everything that we wanted in a leader of the men in our football program because his mission and priorities match those of our school. Coach Fox, who spent 8 years in the NFL, was an Academic All-American at Fresno State University and shares the schools commitment to strive for both academic and athletic excellence.
