CLARKSTON, GA, October 14, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ --Gaynell Allen, English as a Second Language Teacher for Jolly Elementary School, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in ESL instruction.
Ms. Allen has 29 years of professional experience in education, with the last 15 years devoted to teaching ESL. She lends her talents to Jolly Elementary School, where she is responsible for collaborating with teachers and working with students who are not proficient in English. She works individually or in a classroom setting with native English speaking students helping ESL students learn language concepts in reading, speaking, and writing and to communicate confidently in America. Previously, Ms. Allen worked as a paraprofessional in kindergarten, first and second grade, mathematics laboratory, and a technology paraprofessional working with an integrated learning program for children. She has taught second and third grade as a primary teacher. As an ESL instructor, she takes particular pride in her association with Jolly Elementary School, a school whose diverse student population speaks 34 different languages. She attributes her success to the support that she receives from her students and colleagues.
A product of Lincoln Memorial University, Ms. Allen received her Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership in 2008. She is a member of the Organization of DeKalb Educators, Georgia Association of Educators, the National Education Association and Georgia Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages. Honors of which she is a recipient include: the 2009 Teacher of the Year Award, a Teacher Award from Mathalama African Methodist Episcopal Church. In five years, Ms. Allen aspires to teach secondary level adult youth.
