PHOENIX, AZ, October 19, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/
-- It's time for Halloween at the Assistance League of Phoenix Thrift Shop, 7044 North Seventh Street, and the shop is stocked with seasonal home decorations and a variety of costumes. Recently extended shopping hours are Tuesday through Friday 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Teachers always receive a 25% discount with school identification. In addition, Wednesday is an increasingly popular Senior Discount Day, which begins at 9:00 a.m. with coffee and cookies and features a 25% discount for seniors.
Crafts and ladies' shoes are among the highlighted specials during October. A Halloween Clearance Sale is now underway, and holiday crafts are on sale through the end of the month.
The recently updated, open-space front room features clothes for men, women, and children as well as "classy clothing" jewelry, handbags, and scarves. Kitchen items, tools, sporting goods, home decor, fabric, and furniture are also featured at bargain prices. A newly decorated book section features both paperback and hardback books. A pet section and garden section are the newest features this year.
The Assistance League of Phoenix Thrift Shop is staffed entirely by volunteers under the direction of Michelle Viggiano, store manager. Because Assistance League is a nonprofit organization, there is no sales tax on purchases.
"We are an award-winning thrift shop always looking for ways to make shopping at our store as convenient as possible," said Aimee Runyon, the executive director of the Assistance League of Phoenix.
Assistance League of Phoenix has more than 250 members and is part of a national non-profit organization with more than 122 chapters nationwide. Last year, Assistance League of Phoenix members volunteered over 25,000 hours, and spent over $500,000 serving nearly 43,000 children and families in the greater Phoenix community through five Philanthropic Programs. The organization recently celebrated 50 years of service to the Phoenix community.
