VANCOUVER, BC, February 08, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Continual or continuous? These two words are often confused but there is a subtle difference in meaning.

Continual/continually should be used to describe something that happens often, but with breaks in between.

For example:

We are continually disturbed by noisy partygoers heading home late at night.

(The noise happens frequently - but it is not 24/7.)

Also:

We've had continual issues with our new dishwasher, it fails to clean the dishes properly at least three times a week.

Continuous/continuously describes something where there is no break at all.

For example:

They suffered continuous bombardment from the enemy guns for over ten hours.

OR

My tape player is set to play continuously, so it's great for parties.
