GLASGOW, SCOTLAND, October 31, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- A specialist app that helps identify the best learning tools and educational games in the market has been launched.---
EducationalAppStore.com - which has had a significant presence online since 2012 - rates and reviews learning applications, and its findings are designed to make it easier for parents, teachers and students to find apps to suit their needs.
And now finding those apps will be even simpler as the new version of the EAS app was launched on Google Play, and will soon be in the App Store.
EducationalAppStore.com founder, Justin Smith, said EAS is a vital resource in elearning, and argues its presence on phones and tablets will help more people find the apps they're looking for.
Justin said that: "there's no other app like this out there at the moment." The educational apps market is one that's certainly growing, with more than 150000 apps out there-it's becoming more difficult for people to choose which apps suit their needs.
"EAS makes the whole process of finding educational apps much more efficient. We reduce the discovery process so people don't have to endlessly browse the stores trying to find the best apps."
EAS uses a community of reviewers, which includes parents, teachers and students, to evaluate educational apps, measuring each one against a set of pedagogical criteria and academic research through the EAS Rubric.
The learning outcomes they are looking for are: academic relevance; cognitive development; collaboration skills, communication skills; creative development; critical thinking; emotional skills; engagement and usability; and organisational and productivity skills.
The review team awards each app a rating out of five stars as part of the EAS Certification process, and a selection of apps are given reviews of up to 500 words. Apps are promoted on the site based on their educational content.
To make it even easier to find an app, EAS also categorises the apps it reviews by age and subject matter -including Art and Music, English Language, Maths, Student and Teacher Tools.
The EAS app can be used by anyone with an Android device, but the service that it provides is something that's most relevant to parents looking for educational apps for their children and students and teachers looking for learning apps to use in the classroom.
Justin predicts a boom in curiosity around elearning and mlearning as the official launch of Tablets for Schools approaches, and with EAS as the official apps advisor for Tablets for Schools, the app is well-placed to provide help and advice.
Justin added: "As more parents become aware of tablets and the role they'll be playing in education, they, along with their children, will be doing a lot more investigation of the market and what's out there.
"With the EAS app, they can be sure that they're looking at age-specific reviews carried out by a panel of experts on a trusted site.
"Our EAS Certified badge is the recognised standard that will help users identify what apps fit the learning outcomes and teach real-life skills."
"We're thrilled to be involved in the educational market at this exciting time when there is a global surge in technology use and hope that our recommended apps will make learning fun."
