/24-7PressRelease/ -- Gulliver Preparatory School's dance department and Sundancers raised $2,500 for Dancers Responding to AIDS (DRA) during its 10th Annual AIDS Benefit on Feb. 13, 2013, at the Prep's Miller Drive campus auditorium in Miami.
The DRA is a program of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, which is the nation's leading dance industry AIDS fundraising organization. More than 200 students from Gulliver and area schools participated in the event along with Artistic Soul Studios.
The benefit was part of DRA's Student Outreach Project, which unites the local student dance community to raise funds to support AIDS research, treatment and social services for those living with the disease.
"All of the dancers should be commended for their dedication and their support of DRA," said Gerri Barreras, a member of Gulliver Prep's dance faculty. "The DRA relies on the youth and vitality of the dance community to keep the mission alive and continue its support for essential services for people with AIDS."
Along with Artistic Soul Studios, the following schools participated in the event: Coral Gables Senior High School, Coral Reef Senior High School, Gulliver Preparatory School, John A. Ferguson Senior High School, Miami Palmetto Senior High School, Riviera Preparatory School, Robert Morgan Educational Center, St. Brendan Senior High School and South Dade Senior High School.
