SOUTH ORANGE, NJ, October 29, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- "When I get out of my own way and let everything grow, it is amazing," salon owner Chelle Morrison summarized about her journey from booth renter to Salon Today 200 award-winning salon owner. Morrison, owner of Urban Betty Salon (www.urbanbettysalon.com) of Austin, Texas shared some of her creative and profitable marketing secrets with the A-List Salon Radio Show on BlogTalkRadio.com last Tuesday.---
"Today, beauty professionals have even more opportunities to market themselves beyond the four walls of their salon.," said Veronica Woods, host of the A-List Salon Radio show and author of The A-List Salon: Insider Secrets of How Profitable Salons Wow Their Clients Every Day (www.alistsalonbook.com). The A-List Salon book features Urban Betty Salon along with 15 other award-winning salon owners.
In the interview, Morrison explained why she views email requests for donations as new opportunities to build brand recognition and relationships in the community.
The staff prepares pre-made gift bags including a gift card, salon brochure, product samples, business cards, and display items, according to Morrison. Even if her salon's gift cards do not get redeemed, the salon still gets exposure, Morrison commented. "If 50 to 500 people all walked by the [silent auction] bid table and saw my brand name, it's a win-win," Morrison said.
A natural networker, Morrison also revealed on the show how she partners with neighboring businesses through a business website exchange and cross-promotion during salon events, such as a Movember prostate cancer event.
During the show, Morrison also discussed how she gradually transitioned from a booth renter to an owner of a commissioned-based salon. After starting with just one assistant, she found employee management as less difficult and more profitable to manage. "When your business is evolving and changing, don't be afraid to grow...or else you will stay stagnant and close," Morrison advised.
