    GRANTS PASS, OR, December 14, 2008 /Cambridge Who's Who/ -- Harry W. Smedes, Principal and Owner of Peaceful Valley Lodge, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of hospitality.

With 57 years of professional experience, nine of which have been as the owner of Peaceful Valley Lodge, a health and wellness retreat, Dr. Smedes specializes in providing a relaxing and meditative environment. He is also a professor of geology at Southern Oregon University where his expertise is in geologic hazards and disaster preparedness. He considers opening Peaceful Valley Lodge and his work in disaster preparedness to be the highlights of his career and attributes his success to his helping nature.

Dr. Smedes received his Ph.D. in Geology from the University of Washington and graduated cum laude from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Science in Geology with minors in Physics and Chemistry in 1948. A Registered Geologist, he is a Fellow of the Geological Society of America and the Mineralogical Society of America.
