"Volunteers are the heart and soul of our organization," said Ann Thomas, volunteer services manager. "Whether it's offering a listening ear while holding a hand, providing a back rub or haircut or helping with household chores, volunteering with Hospice of Michigan can be a life-changing experience - for our volunteers and the patients and families they serve."

Those interested in attending the upcoming HOM volunteer training series can register at or by contacting Thomas at 616.356.5227.

For those who have experienced a loss, Hospice of Michigan encourages a waiting period of one year prior to becoming a volunteer in order to allow for processing of grief.
