SCOTTSDALE, AZ, January 11, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Breast implant rippling is a problem that can occur with saline implants. This is not to say all saline breast implants will ripple, just that saline implants are more prone to this particular aesthetic imperfection.

Rippling is more common in breast implants that are placed above the muscles in your chest. This implant placement does not offer the same amount of coverage, enabling imperfections of all sorts to become more visible. However, women who are thinner may experience rippling even when implants are placed submuscularly, particularly around the areas in which little muscle is present such as under the arms.

Reducing Your Risks

The best way to reduce your risks for both surgical and aesthetic complications with breast augmentation is working with a board-certified breast surgeon. A plastic surgeon who has received board certification will have undergone substantially more training than those who have not, which can translate to a more rewarding experience overall.

In addition, you should work with a plastic surgeon that will provide you with individual attention. Your plastic surgeon should offer you the option of both saline and silicone breast implants, and be able to place them in the location most ideal for your body type. This requires special attention be paid to your natural curves and anatomy to ensure your procedure produces the results you deserve.

When selecting a breast surgeon, take time to ask questions about what you can realistically expect from your procedure. Breast augmentation can significantly improve the contours of your body, but there are many considerations that will need to be made prior to committing to surgery. In the end, it may not be possible to avoid aesthetic complications such as rippling, something you will want to discuss with your plastic surgeon during your initial consultation.
