LAKE GENEVA, WI, January 23, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Farmacopeia presents a public benefit following their "Pioneers in Ecological Medicine" two-day training for growers, and features a silent auction, atmospheric music by Jeff Quay and Alex Sokol of the Blue Man Group, herb-infused farm-to-table food and beverages, and chances for attendees to meet and mingle with such agriculture and herb luminaries as Peg Schafer, Jean Giblette, and Terra Brockman. The event will be held Sunday, Feb. 3 from 3 p.m to 6.p.m. at the Jane Addams Hull-House Museum, located at 800 South Halsted Street at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

All who are interested in learning more about the surprising and important interconnections between natural medicine, ecological agriculture, and vibrant communities are encouraged to attend. No background in horticulture or herbal medicine is required; novices and experts alike are welcome.

The main purpose of the Farmacopeia Benefit is to help raise money for the cause of locally cultivating medicinal herbs by supporting and subsidizing training and education for Midwestern farmers. These medicinal plants are the raw materials used by practitioners of East Asian medicine; they are becoming increasingly subject to price fluctuations in China and require a high carbon footprint to import from abroad. Local, ecologically produced medicine is becoming as vital as local food.

Tickets for Farmacopeia are available for purchase now at http://www.innerecology.com/farmacopeia, with early-bird rates of $50 per ticket through January 28.

If you are a Midwestern grower and would like more information on the Pioneers in Ecological Medicine workshop, visit http://www.innerecology.com/PEM.

If you are looking for more ways to support local herbal agriculture, visit http://www.indiegogo.com/Farmacopeia to make a tax-deductible donation or http://www.innerecology.com for further information.
